NPTC Level 2 In Horticulture

This qualification covered all of the basic soil/plant properties and science, the requirements of particular plants, maintaining turf and much more. This course was my essential beginner training in Horticulture.

I achieved six merits and two distinctions in this course, I also achieved an overall merit.

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma In Horticulture

This course was comprised of two intensive years of learning, covering a wide range of subjects

both practical and theory. Briefly it covered: Understanding principles of garden design,

Machinery operations, Horticultural tree work and the construction of landscape features.

It also covered ponds, planting fencing and so much more it would fill this whole page!

This was a fantastic course, it really concreted me into the landscaping and horticultural industry.

At the end of this course I achieved a triple Merit award.

Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew

My time at Kew was one of my most proud achievements ever!

During my NPTC level 2 in Horticulture I was asked to organize six weeks of work experience,

so I went for the most prestigious garden in the world and after many conversations and emails

I was agreed my six week placement at kew.

To top all of this off I had applied to the David Colgrave foundation

for a 500 pound bursary, which was also granted to fund my travel to Kew for the entire six weeks.

My time working with renowned experts in there fields and working with

some of the rarest and fascinating plants in the world sparked my interest in planting

and bringing a slice of kew to every personal garden.

Achievements:

After my NPTC Level 2 had ended I embarked on my extended level 3 Diploma in Horticulture,

for which I achieved a triple merit award and was again asked to organise work experience.

I was instantly accepted back to kew were I worked in the Lilly house and Palm house,

this expanded my love of plants into aquatics.
